22 ways that you can support the mission of Applied Linguistics Press today!

1. Share this website with friends and colleagues.

2. Share ALP titles with students and colleagues.

3. Follow us on YouTube, Spotify, and X, and post about ALP on social media.

4. Read and cite works published by ALP in your own research.

5. Assign readings from ALP (or other open access materials) in your classes.

6. Talk about the importance of open access publishing with anyone who will listen.

7. Propose your next book project to ALP and encourage others to do the same. (See our Author FAQ page and proposal template here.)

8. Propose a new series.

9. Consider whether the work you do for for-profit publishers (e.g., as an author, reviewer, book series editor) aligns with your values and goals.

10. Volunteer to review, copyedit, or contribute cover art at ALP.

11. Volunteer to help design merch for the ALP shop.

12. Write to an ALP author to compliment their choice to publish with an open access press.

14. Make a donation. (See here. Or through a donation to NAU that I would have access to for ALP-related expenses.) ALP is committed to providing 100% open access to everything we publish. The press is run on a volunteer basis, but there are sometimes small costs associated with web development, design/images, and copyediting. Any contribution toward those needs will go a long way! 

15. Find and help us write a grant to support the press.

16. Help us convert ALP into a non-profit organization (e.g., 501c)

17. Post and share ALP book flyers (see book landing pages on the ALP website) in your office and at conferences.

18. Put ALP stickers in conspicuous locations. (Just send me your address and I will send you some stickers!)

19. Suggest other ways that ALP can serve the applied linguistics community worldwide.

20. Rate and review the ALP books you've read on GoodReads.com.

21. Write a review for an ALP book for a journal or for LinguistList.

22. Make open science a priority in your scholarly pursuits whether or not that involves ALP.
